Reading these pages means accepting what follows. The list is short, because the site does a small number of things: it publishes information about replacing the windows in a house, and it intends to pass estimate requests to companies that can quote for the work. If you do not accept these terms, the remedy is simple — stop using the site.

No. Everything published here is general information for homeowners in the United States. It is not legal, tax, engineering, financial or construction advice, and it is not a substitute for a licensed professional who has looked at your building.

Energy requirements, building codes and permit rules are set locally and they change. Your building department, and a professional standing in front of the opening, are the authorities on your house; a national guide is not. Nothing on this site is an inspection, a specification, an approval or a code determination, and no page should be relied on as one.

• Not a contractor, installer, manufacturer, dealer or broker. It performs no work, employs no installers and holds no contractor license, because there is no trade being carried on here.
• Not a warranty provider. No product warranty and no workmanship warranty is issued, backed or administered by this site.
• Not a supervisor or an inspector. This site does not schedule, oversee, inspect, insure or bond anybody’s work, and it does not verify a company’s license or insurance on your behalf. Checking those with your state licensing authority is a step worth taking yourself.
• Not a party to your contract. Whatever you sign is between you and that company alone. This site cannot enforce it, vary it, cancel it or claim under it.

Estimate requests are closed at the moment, so nothing on this site is collecting a request or promising a visit. When they open, a request is an introduction and nothing more. It is not an offer, a booking, a contract or a price. A company that receives one may decline it, may not cover your area, and may quote a figure unlike anything you read here. Whatever price you are given belongs to the company that gave it, and so does the obligation to honor it.

Dollar figures on this site are quoted from named publishers, with the date they were read, and they are survey figures rather than quotes for your house. Publishers revise them, withdraw them and disagree with one another; where two disagree, both are shown rather than blended into an average nobody published. No figure here is a price, an offer or a promise, and one that has moved since it was read is a correction to make rather than a term to argue about.

A link out is a reference, not an endorsement. What sits on the other side of it is written and controlled by somebody else, under their terms and their privacy policy, and this site does not monitor it or answer for it.

Read it, print it for your own project, and quote it with attribution and a link back to the page it came from. Republishing pages wholesale, scraping the site or passing the material off as somebody else’s is not permitted. The text, the layout and the name of the site belong to its operator.

Pages change, and pages come down. The site is provided as it stands, without a promise that it will be available, uninterrupted or free of error. A factual error is corrected as soon as it is shown to us, and a claim that cannot be supported is removed rather than defended — which is a better remedy than a disclaimer.

Decisions about your own building are yours. The work is carried out by companies this site does not employ, supervise or control, and their workmanship, warranties, pricing, timekeeping and conduct are theirs alone. To the fullest extent the law allows, this site is not liable for work performed by a company you found or contacted through it, for a decision you took after reading a page here, or for a third-party figure that has changed since it was quoted.

A dispute with a contractor is between you and that contractor. Your state contractor licensing board or consumer protection office is the route, and they have powers this site does not.

Nothing in these terms removes a right the law gives you and does not allow you to give up.
