That paragraph appears in the footer of every page on this site, and beside every control that offers to put you in touch with a company. It is not shortened on a small screen, where more people read it than anywhere else.

By being paid for an introduction, and by nothing else. The intended arrangement is the one common to comparison sites in this trade, and it is worth stating rather than implying: a homeowner asks for estimates, the request reaches window replacement companies that can quote for the work, and those companies pay a fee for receiving it. Using the site costs a homeowner nothing, and there is no subscription, no membership and no fee of any kind on this side.

None of it is running today. Estimate requests are closed, no request has been passed to anybody, and no company is paying to appear on this site. When that changes, this page changes with it, and so does the privacy policy, which sets out what would be sent and to whom.

No — and the useful part of that answer is the structure behind it rather than the assurance itself.

• No company can buy a line of copy. Cost ranges, material comparisons, the repair-or-replace guidance and the local code notes are written from sources, and money buys no sentence in any of them.
• There is no paid placement and no sponsored ranking. No featured slot is for sale, and no position in any list on this site can be bought. This site publishes no star ratings, review scores or awards at all, because it has collected none — a score nobody measured is not worth printing.
• The questions asked of a homeowner are set by the job. They are the ones a company needs answered in order to quote, not the ones that would make a request more valuable to sell.
• A poor fit is described as a poor fit. A frame material is not talked up because somebody who sells it might pay, and a window that should be repaired rather than replaced is written up that way even though a repair earns this site nothing.

It does not make this site a contractor, and it does not make it responsible for the work. This site performs no installations and guarantees nobody’s workmanship. It does not employ, supervise, license, insure or bond the companies that would quote you, and it does not check their paperwork on your behalf.

Confirming that a company holds a current license and current insurance, taking references, and reading the contract before signing it are steps this site cannot take for you — and it should never be treated as having taken them. Not a category, not a count, not a vague phrase about the companies we work with: names, in front of you, at the moment you decide. If that list cannot be shown in full at that moment, the request goes nowhere at all.
